Dr Nancy, RN  Sheds Light on Issues of
Health, Wellness, Health Care Reform,
Resources for Navigating the Health Care System

Unique television show brings health care issues
to life for consumers worldwide

Nancy Valentine is bringing her extensive health care background and celebrity persona to television’s latest talk show, Dr Nancy, RN, as she and a host of expert guests hit the airwaves to help people achieve maximum health and well-being in their lives, negotiate a complex health care system and unravel the mysteries of health care reform in America.

With the launch this week of Dr Nancy, RN, consumers worldwide will have access to pertinent health policy and personal health care content that has the potential to enhance their health and their understanding of critical health-related issues while being royally entertained by Dr. Nancy and a wide variety of health care experts.

Cable TV, You-tube and the Web will carry the show and highlight its theme of “Healthy World, Healthy Nation, Healthy You”  Upcoming topics include how to prevent falls, caregiver considerations in caring successfully for home bound family members, and a series on recovery from cancer and autism spectrum disorders.

Dr. Nancy RN strives to bring style and substance to the health care discussion,” said Valentine. “We will entertain people while encouraging them to pay attention to the issues and information that can change their lives for the better. Nothing impacts us the way our health does. There is information out there that translates into an enhanced quality of life – for individuals and society. I want to harness that information to You-tube, the Web, social media, and make a difference in peoples’ lives!”

“No one can do this better than Nancy Valentine,” said Gloria Donnelly, Dean and Professor, College of Nursing & Health Professions, Drexel University, Philadelphia. “She is the Oprah of health care! She has the ability to make complicated information come alive for health care consumers.”

Valentine noted that through information and coaching, people can acquire the life skills for effectively managing health and illness. “People need to have a voice in making health care decisions, they need support for chronic illness,” she said. She also noted that the public can assist in decreasing health costs through active consumer engagement in decision making on many health care issues.

Dr Nancy will engage you in your own health and wellness – that is a certainty,” said Paul Grundy, MD, MPH, IBM’s Global Director of Healthcare Transformation and President, Patient-centered Primary Care Collaborative.  “These discussions will transform how you – the consumer – understand health care.”

Mission, goals
The mission of Dr Nancy RN is to build a bridge through dialogue between health care insiders and the public, to provide consumers with the tools to get optimum value from the health care system and to help people understand their illnesses and the course of action necessary to get the best care and/or avoid illness and future complications.

Goals for the show are to:

  • Take the mystery out of health care and how the system works
  • Translate health information into personal action
  • Encourage people to take responsibility for their health
  • Provide tools to make self-care and decision-support a reality
  • Connect communities of interest to decrease isolation, foster hope and build emotional resilience
  • Build communities of people to positively change health behaviors for populations across communities and generations
  • Impact public health through sharing key information directly with people
  • Build community among those surviving chronic and acute illness, support those caring for them
